A poem for sunset
In the time of dusk yesterday afternoon, I was battling my way homeward against the wind and rain, while near the home, a sudden gust, stronger than the other, drove me into the shelter of a big willow. But soon the western sky broke open; the illumination of sunset poured down from behind the dispersing clouds.
I was astonished at the brightness, to see how they filled this world with their soft luster. Bits of wooly, purple clouds floated scattered over the sky, tinted in the west with a rosy hue, which deepened its colour every moment. They were so beautiful. I wondered how they came. Its beauty could not be descripted with such flashy words, perhaps a poem in Chinese:
雨后的西天
如一张妩媚的笑脸
那是美丽的新娘
羞红的粉面
那玉容秋波里
交汇着一道道柔美的光线
那是一个个玫瑰的吻
令人迷醉魂牵
夕阳归去
彩霞飞溅
撒下一片紫色的梦
在荡漾的河面上
时隐时现
霞光中的金柳
如处子般的天仙
在降临的夜幕中
带走了惆怅的眷恋
